The Top Ten Questions Customers Have...

UV Air Purifiers:

Q: Do UV Air Purifiers protect against the Coronavirus (COVID-19)?

A: Currently, there is no data supporting that UV Air Purifiers protect against the

Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Indoor Air Temperature:

Warm air in the summer:

Q: I have air coming from my vents, but it's not cold. Why is this happening?

A: In the summer, when you have proper air flow and not the right temperature, it is typically a sign that your system is low on refrigerant and needs to be charged.

All you need to do is schedule a tech to come out and recharge it for you.

Cold air in the winter:

Q: I have air coming from my vents, but it’s not warm enough. Why is this happening?

A: In the winter, when you have proper air flow and not the right temperature, it is typically a sign that your system is low on refrigerant and needs to be charged.

All you need to do is schedule a tech to come out and recharge it for you.

Filters:

Q: How often do I need to change my filter?

A: If you are using the standard disposable filter, they are good for 30 days. We recommend setting yourself a reminder (on your phone/calendar) so that this simple task does not get overlooked. This can extend the life of your unit!

Purchasing a new filter:

Q: Do I have to purchase a filter from AMC? If not, where can I purchase filters on my own?

A: No, you do not have to purchase a filter from AMC. We recommend that you always keep a box of filters on hand (that way you won’t have to run out when it is time to change the filter).

Filters can be purchased from many locations. Some options are to purchase your filters from Home Depot, Lowe's, or even on Amazon!

Always make sure you purchase the proper size filter for your system. Look at your current filter; the size is printed on the trim of the filter!

Maintenance:

Q: How many times a year should I schedule maintenance for my system?

A: For residential heating and cooling, the recommendation is twice a year. You should schedule to have it done in the spring and the fall so your systems are ready for peak temperatures in the summer and winter months.

For commercial heating and cooling, it is recommended that systems be maintained quarterly.

Thermostat:

Q: The screen on my thermostat is blank. What does that mean?

A: There are various reasons this could be happening. Here are the steps on how you can check it out on your end prior to scheduling a tech to come out.

How to replace the batteries located in the back of your thermostat:

  • Gently remove the cover (no tools are required)
  • Replace the batteries

Do NOT touch any wires while doing this as it could cause further issues with your thermostat.

If that did not fix the issue, please schedule a tech appointment.

Post power outage:

Q: We lost power today and now our system won’t turn on. Why is this happening?

A: We wish we had a simple answer for this one!

Unfortunately, it could be any number of things. It is highly recommended that you reach out to us, or another licensed/trusted HVAC professional, so that a technician can properly assess the problem and address the issue.

Water around the base of my furnace unit:

Q: There is water coming from the bottom of the furnace. Why is this happening?

A: A common reason for this is that the line to your condensate pump is clogged. This can usually be fixed with a shot of air through the line with an air compressor.

Air Conditioning SEER:

Q: What does SEER mean?

A: SEER is the acronym for the Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating for your cooling system. The higher the SEER rating, the more efficient your equipment is.

Keep in mind that there are other variables that effect the overall efficiency of your system as well.
